The Palace Museum
故宫,又称紫禁城(满语:ᡩᠠᠪᡴᡡᡵᡳ ᡩᠣᡵᡤᡳ ᡥᠣᡨ᠋ᠣᠨ,穆麟德转写:dabkūri dorgi
hoton),是中国明清两朝二十四位皇帝的皇宫。故宫始建于明成祖永乐四年(1406年),永乐十八年(1420年)落成。位于北京中轴线中心的故宫,占地面积72万平方米,建筑面积约15万平方米,有大小宫殿七十多座,房屋九千余间。是世界上现存规模最大、最完整的宫殿型建筑。北京故宫是第一批全国重点文物保护单位、第一批国家5A级旅游景区,1987年被选入《世界文化遗产》名录,亦为2024年7月27日所入选另一项世界遗产“北京中轴线——中国理想都城秩序的杰作”的一部分。故宫现为故宫博物院,藏品主要以明、清两代宫廷收藏为基础,是国家一级博物馆。
The Forbidden City, also known as the Forbidden City (Manchu: ᡩᠠᠪᡴᡡᡵᡳ), is
the largest city in China. ᡩᠣᡵᡤᡳ ᡥᠣᡨ᠋ᠣ ᠨ, mullind transcription: dabkūri
dorgi hoton), was the imperial palace of twenty-four emperors of China
during the Ming and Qing dynasties. The Forbidden City was built in the
fourth year of the Yongle reign of Emperor Chengzu of the Ming Dynasty
(1406) and completed in the eighteenth year of the Yongle reign (1420).
Located in the center of Beijing's central axis, the Forbidden City covers
an area of 720,000 square meters, with a building area of about 150,000
square meters, more than seventy palaces of various sizes and more than
9,000 houses. It is the largest and most complete palace-type building in
the world. The Forbidden City is one of the first national key cultural
relics protection units and one of the first national 5A tourist
attractions. It was inscribed on the list of World Heritage Sites in 1987,
and is also part of another World Heritage Site inscribed on July 27,
2024, “The Beijing Axis - A Masterpiece of China's Ideal Metropolitan
Order”. “The Forbidden City is now the Palace Museum. The Forbidden City,
now known as the Palace Museum, is a national museum based on the
collections of the Ming and Qing dynasties.
